Sunflower Angel

This deeply personal piece emerged through pure feeling—intuitively created without a set plan, it later revealed its meaning through the process itself. At its heart is a hand-drawn portrait of someone close to me, a figure partially torn and burnt—a raw, cathartic expression of suffering. Through destruction, something sacred was uncovered.

The sunflower, nestled behind the portrait, symbolises the authentic self, the light within us all. It sits recessed in the work, reminding us that beneath pain and damage, our true self endures. The gold leaf and dimensional textures mirror the fractured yet luminous journey of healing.

This artwork speaks to samskara, unprocessed trauma that colours how we see the world. When we look through the lens of our wounds, life appears distorted. But as we begin to dissolve those inner scars, our light becomes clearer, and we move through life with greater truth and ease.
